loss·y

Immersive Installation & Spatial Audio
loss·y (adjective) having removed data regarded as unnecessary or redundant.
loss·y is a walk-through immersive installation exploring what gets lost when our lives are compressed into digital form. The work turns the visitor’s body into the interface; moving through the space reveals layers of sound, projection, and 3D- printed sculpture drawn from three split seconds of a motion-captured duet.
On its surface, a critique of today’s techno-society, the work reflects on a world where human experience is increasingly filtered, archived, and shared as data. Taking up digital reduction and surveillance as creative media, it highlights the uncanny wonder that pulls us forward into our newly hybridized world. It asks: what remains when our lives are reduced, stored, and translated online?
loss·y's interactive audio system is powered by Unwired Dance Theatre / Clemence Debaig using technology originally developed for their interactive dance piece Where We Meet. The system leverages real-time motion capture and game engine spatial audio to track audiences in space, creating a natural, embodied, multiplayer experience.
